The one about Lipstick

If you asked me to wear lipstick one year ago my response would be 'eww why would I wear that.' But i'm happy to say I have been converted to a lover of luscious coloured lips! To me personally, putting on a bit of lipstick can help to complete any outfit and bring out the colour in my face, especially if I have left my eyes naked (that's me all the time!).

I tend to go for the darker colours like plums, dark skinned tones and vibrant reds. I'm slowly adding some corals and pinks into my collection, but I like the way the dark colours (paired with jacket and combat boots) make me look like i'm ready to KICK BUTT!... Does anyone else ever feel like that? no just me? okay I'll keep going.

My favourite colour to wear at the moment is red. These are my go to products to making my lips a vibrant red colour that lasts a decent amount of time.

All these items can be found in almost any store that sells cosmetics

Because I like matte lipsticks i've used Australis matte me 'lipstick mattifying base' followed by an essence lip liner in the shade femme fatale (10) and my actual lipstick is rimmel London no. 10, from the Kate Moss collection.

I find that the mattifying base coat makes the lipstick last longer by staining my lips. Because of that, my lips still have a bit of colour in them (instead of being completely naked) at the end of the night. As for the lip liner, I feel that it aids in bringing out the red colour and makes it more richer and fuller. Put all three of these products together and you have a LIP DREAM TEAM :D

And to give you a bit of an idea this is the final product

This is my blue steel

Like I said before I like wearing this type of lip with a nice jacket and one of my many button up blouses tucked in with a skirt. Put on a pair of boots and you're good to go!

and that's about it.

Flapper girl

This actually happened a few weeks ago, but I thought I would share it with you know that I have some spare time.

I went to a charity ball that was run by university, and the theme was (drum roll please), GREAT GATSBY.

So this is my take on the 20's flapper girl (It probably wasn't the best attempt, but I like how the outfit looked in the end).

Dress: Forever new
Shoes: Asos
Clutch: Collette
Lipstick: Kate (Rimmel London) no. 10
DRESS

I don't normally buy things from Forever new (Particularly because it's a tad too pricey for my student budget), but I had given up on trying to find a dress that I liked and decided to have a look. Even though the dress wasn't in my price range, I was happy with my choice. The beading on the top half of the dress fits in with the 20's theme, and is what initially caught my eye in the shops.

look at that beading
SHOES:

So I did a little research to get a better idea of what the fashion was like back in the 20's (and by research I mean I watched a bunch of Great Gatsby themed tutorials on youtube). The smaller heel, with a strap seemed to be 'the in thing,' so when I saw these lovely shoes on sale at asos, I decided they would be a perfect fit with the dress.

The heel made them super easy to walk in, and I could see myself wearing these shoes on other nights out.

The perfect sized heel...for me

ACCESSORIES:

Because the top of my dress was already heavily decorated (in a good way), I decided to leave my neck bare, and wear a nice ring instead.

Ring: Collette
As for head wear, I decided to wear a flower crown. This is what I was referring to when I said 'my take.'  But more than anything I really wanted an excuse to wear one.
Oh also, I didn't put the flower crown on until I got to the venue, which is why I am not wearing it in the main picture.

Flower crown: Lovisa
 LIPS:

Who doesn't love wearing some red lipstick! It's a dark red lipstick with some shine to it...I don't really know how to explain it (sorry). Anyway, I found that the quality of the lipstick was pretty good, aside from the part that it smudges very easily, I only re-applied my lipstick once throughout the night (Food and drinks were consumed too!). Also it was only $11, which made it affordable.

no. 10!

And that's about it.

SPRING IS HERE

Yes it's spring time! And since I haven't posted in awhile i've decided to give you an update on my spring outfit choices.

Cardigan: Valley girl
Floral dress: Valley girl
Combat boots: Rubi shoes

I've chosen this dress because I adore the floral print, and feel as though the style of the dress suits my body shape. The dress is sleeveless, but i've opted to wear a 3/4 cardigan over it, since the weather can still be a bit chilly.

For those of you who live in the northern hemisphere, here was one of my go to outfits to keep me warm on those chilly days (This probably relates more to winter...sorry).

Top: Salvation army
Skirt: Chica booti
Combat boots: Rubi shoes
Jacket: Myer (Miss Shop)

My Camo jacket has so far been my favourite purchase of the year. The amount of wear I gotten out of it over winter was great. I like to wear it with a plain top and a high waisted skirt.

This outfit can easily be transitioned into a spring outfit by ditching the jacket and tights.

And there you have it!
I'll try to keep you all updated on some more spring outfit choices.

Trip to Daiso

Hi again! :)

As you can see by the title, I went to Daiso the other day. You might be asking yourself,  'What is Daiso?' Well, it's essentially a Japanese store that sells everything for $2.80! The reason for my over excitement in relation to this store is because I went to one in Canada back in 2012 and instantly fell in love (Mainly because it sells cute asian things for really cheap prices, and the quality is pretty good). So when I was told that a Daiso now existed in my CBD I knew I had to go there ASAP (and by asap I means 2 weeks, since I was really really busy with uni things).

So here is my mini haul of things I bought (I didn't buy much because I  can see myself making many trips back there in the coming weeks).

So this is Daiso- It's bright lights and big '$2.80' signs entice you in!
*note you can't actually see the $2.80 signs in this photo, but I assure you they are there.

We recently bought a new dinning table and chair's set. As much as I like the look of the chairs, you spend half the time at the dinner table sliding off the chair :(. So I decided to buy these 2 floral printed chair cushions. They're quite thin, but for $2.80 (Obviously) you don't expect them to be uber thick.

A girl can never have enough containers :). It's microwaveable safe, which means I can bring left overs to uni without worrying that my containers is going to melt apart (I might take the lid off for good measures though). Also, it has a pink lid *cough cough*

I was in desperate need of a folder of some kind, so I picked up this cute polka dot one. No joke, my desk is just filled with lecture notes, random journal articles and assessment details (also food scraps). So this should be helpful with sorting out everything.

And that is about it for now! :)

HAUL!

So as I said on my first blog post, I wanted to blog about things i'm interested in.
And one of those things is FASHION. Actually I would probably just say clothes, since I don't think i'm that 'fashionable.'

Anyway here is a collection of things I have bought over the past few weeks

'Lol i'm just kitten' t-shirt
Supre: $15.00

Now I don't normally shop at supre, but I noticed this hanging on the racks at the front of the shop and I thought to myself "I must have you." It's nice and casual and looks really cute with a high waisted skirt and some flats.

Mint green dress
Blink fashion boutique: $60.00 (Buy one get one free, so technically $30.00)

I just realised I don't have a picture of my face up on this blog yet... Well here you go!
This dress  was from  'Blink fashion boutique' (they have a stall in the 'my cube shop' that is near where I live). It was buy one get one free, and since the dresses were around $60.00 I got one for myself, and one for my sister (which hopefully will appear in future posts). Since the weather is cooling down, the arm length of dress gives me some extra warmth, and I absolutely love the collar (and the colour). It's a tad bit short for me, so I would wear it with some tights.

Beanie
Cross Top
Dotti: $15 (sale item)

Since I'm a uni student I get discounts at ASOS and a few other online stores (sign up for unidays if you haven't already!). Also since the weather is cooling down and asos shipping is free, I decided to get myself a new beanie! The grey colour makes it really easy to match with anything, plus it isn't insanely thick which means I can wear it even though it isn't that cold at the moment.
The cross top was from one of my favourite stores, Dotti. There is one near where I live that always has some amazing finds in the sale section. I wouldn't normally buy this, but my closet was lacking in long sleeved tops and it actually suited me.

Adventure time and bad wolf t-shirt
Popcultcha: 2 for $50.00 (or one for $30.00).

If you decide you want to follow me on this blog, you will soon realise I'm a bit of a nerd or geek (or dork, whatever floats your boat). I recently attended Supernova, which is a pop culture convention (I would say it's Australia's version of comic con, but on a much smaller scale) and I had my heart set on buying a doctor who related t-shirt. Therefore I purchased the 'bad wolf' one and then thought I would spend an extra $20 and get an adventure time t-shirt, since I do enjoy that show muchly. Also with my purchase, I got a free popcultcha mug which i'm happily using on a daily basis.

And that's about it :)
Sorry for the long blurbs, but I get really excited when I buy an item of clothing that I really like!

Hi there!

Oh hi :)

At this very point in time, i'm procrastinating from assignments and exam prep, and I thought "hey i'm going to start a proper blog." And I say this because my tumblr isn't exactly a blog...

As seen by the title of my blog 'tidbits of life' I'll be posting about things that happen in my life (as well as dabbling into a few of my hobbies).

So sit back and stay tuned for  future (fun filled!) posts.
